CLACKAMAS CITIZENS AGAINST THE COSTLY TAKEOVER IS A PGE FRONT GROUP
(...and PGE claims, "We're not Enron!")
Are you OFFENDED by PGE and their PR firm's deceit
to get you to vote against your best interests? You should be!
Nineteen of twenty voter pamphlet arguments opposing the PUD
were paid for by PGE. It appears many, or perhaps all of them, were written by PGE or its PR firm. Every single dollar contributed in the anti-PUD campaign came from PGE, according to Contribution & Expendure Reports filed with County Elections. This has gone to pay for literature, radio, newspaper, and TV ads, and phone calls originating from out-of-state when Oregon as the nation's highest unemployment rate. PGE has bought the support of organizations with ratepayer money.
The only director of the so-called "Clackamas Citizens Against" political committee is Brian Gard, senior executive of GARD & GERBER. They are PGE's public relations firm. PR people half-jokingly describe themselves as professional liars because their job is to
sell you things that you don't want or need, and then for more money
than something's worth.
Gard & Gerber's job here is to scare you away from looking into what a PUD can save you, while PGE, its client, charges you twice as much as some neighboring utilities.
Gard and Gerber's office is in Multnomah County. Yet why are they calling themselves "Clackamas" Citizens?
PGE is spreading an anti-government message in this campaign even though a PUD brings "ratepayer ownership." In fact, it's PGE who is a "shadow government" who consistently uses its political muscle against the best interests of ratepayers.
