It's very good for consumers, but it's bad for energy suppliers.

The price of electricity in Chile was 113 consecutive days this year to zero at a certain point. In Chile, there are powerful solar power stations that supply energy with surplus. Solar days in this country are a lot, and stations generate a lot of energy. It's so big that we can't have her. Therefore, consumers receive free electricity♪

It's not about Chile. Last year, there was a similar situation where energy prices were at a zero of 192 days. This year, the record is likely to be broken. Local residents and owners of energy-intensive enterprises are, of course, welcome. But it's not as happy as it may seem - free energy has a negative side. The fact is that the energy companies in Chile belong to a private business, which now does not receive profits or incomes. The maintenance of energy infrastructure in the working environment requires money.
In addition, members of the energy sector need some money to build new facilities that will replace old stations. Chile ' s production boom has led to a significant increase in its energy needs. Private business came to help: various companies built 29 solar farms and another 15 planned. The construction of power plants was calculated to continue economic growth. But the economy is slowing down around the world, and Chile no longer needs as much energy as stations. The country ' s copper industry consumed most of the energy, and after demand for honey fell, production facilities were no longer able to consume as much energy as they used.

Investors lose money. For example, Acciona SA invested $343 million in the 247 megawatt station project. It's planned to be the largest station in Latin America. The money is invested, but will profit, or at least the funds returned? The head of the company is not too sure.

Lack of infrastructure

The biggest challenge for the country ' s energy infrastructure is that the entire energy system is divided into two parts: central and northern. Both parts are not connected. Carlos Barria, the head of the renewable energy sector, argues that if one part of the energy reuse and another requires more energy, nothing can be done. The situation is about to be rectified, but it will take time.
