The Seventh Hydropower School was held on 20 October 2011 in Karachaevo-Cherksi
By 2013, the Zelenchuka GES-GAES will be able to generate 162 million kWh per year, which will significantly meet the electricity demand of the Karachaevo-Cherkes Republic. This was reported by the Director of Karachaevo-Cherkess Branch of OAO RousGidro and the Director-General of OAO, Caracasevo-Cherkes Hydrogenerating Company, Grigor Saratikian, at the seventh retreat of the School of Hydropower, which took place at the base of the Zelenchuk GEC. The event was organized for journalists and blogosphere representatives to study more fully the construction and operation of unique hydropower facilities such as hydro-accumulative power plants (GAES). The Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy of the Republic, Ruslan Katchiev, welcomed participants at the retreat session of the School of Hydropower.
The session began with an introductory lecture on the principles of work and the GEC-GSE device. The construction history of these structures has been over 100 years. To date, the total number of GSEs in the world is about 500 and its total capacity exceeds 300 GW.
The Zelenchuk GEC-GAES project is the first, innovative experience in our country in the design of GSE ' s technology equipment and facilities, with water pressures of 220-230m. Two stations are planned to be connected to the construction of the Zelencuk GEC-GAES at the existing Greenchuk GEC: the GEC with the two hydroaggregates currently operating and the GSE, with two reversible hydroagate in the same machine room. At night, reversible aggregates, working in pump mode, pump water upstream of the day-to-day management basin (BSR) and this water is used for electricity generation in the morning and afternoon during peak loads. So the station can operate in two GSE and GSE regimes. And it's all in one building.
