Tajikistan Hydropower

The Republic of Tajikistan is a mountain country with altitudes of 300 to 7495 metres, located in the south-east of Central Asia, which has no access to seas and oceans. 93% of the country ' s entire territory are mountains belonging to the world ' s highest mountain systems, such as Tian-Shan, Gissaro-Alay and Pamir. There are more than 1,000 mountain glaciers in the country, the largest of which is the Fedchenko almond, with a length of about 77 km. The country is located in the basin of the two main rivers of the Central Asian region: Amudari and Sirdarya. The main water resources of the entire region are being developed in Tajikistan. Of the total existing regional outflow of 115 km3 directly in Tajikistan, 64 km3 are formed. If, however, the volume is determined by the transit flow of the Syrdarya River, the total available water is 80 km3, that is, almost 70 per cent of the regional waters.

According to the total hydropower reserves, Tajikistan ranks 8th place in the world and 87,800 per capita. kW/h per person per year is the world ' s second largest and 3, 62 million per unit. kW/h per km2 - 1st place in the world.

The total potential hydropower reserves of Tajikistan are 527, 06 billion. kW/h per year, of which only 4-5 per cent is used. Almost 50 per cent, or more than 280 billion. kW/h per year is technically feasible and cost-effective for development, given the rapid development of technology and technology.

To date, Tajikistan ' s hydro-energy resources are almost twice the total electricity generation in the Central Asian region (150 billion kW/h per year) and accounts for 60 per cent of its total primary energy consumption, including coal, oil and gas. At the same time, hydropower is almost evenly distributed throughout the country and is available in sufficient quantities not only in large but also in small rivers.
